{"id":866,"date":"2014-03-19T15:27:53","date_gmt":"2014-03-19T19:27:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sharkpuppet.com\/?p=866"},"modified":"2014-03-19T15:27:53","modified_gmt":"2014-03-19T19:27:53","slug":"what-to-look-for-at-anime-boston-2014","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/sharkpuppet.com\/wordpress\/what-to-look-for-at-anime-boston-2014\/","title":{"rendered":"What to Look for at Anime Boston 2014"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Anime Boston is this weekend, and those of you reading this are either going or living vicariously through articles about it.\u00a0 Either way, there\u2019s a lot going on at the big name in east coast anime conventions, so here\u2019s a quick look at some of the most important things happening this year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/sharkpuppet.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/ABBanner.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-865 aligncenter\" alt=\"ABBanner\" src=\"http:\/\/sharkpuppet.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/ABBanner.jpg\" width=\"675\" height=\"84\" srcset=\"http:\/\/sharkpuppet.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/ABBanner.jpg 675w, http:\/\/sharkpuppet.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/ABBanner-300x37.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 675px) 100vw, 675px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3><i>Attack on Titan<\/i> dub<\/h3>\n<p>After revealing the English cast a few names at a time, Funimation will finally premiere the dub of <i>Attack on Titan<\/i> at Anime Boston.\u00a0 The screening and Q&amp;A session will happen at 4:30 on Saturday, and woe to anyone whose panel is scheduled at the same time.\u00a0 Even if you\u2019re not a die-hard dub fan, it\u2019s probably worth going just for the experience of watching an A-list series with a packed crowd of fans.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Dai Sato<\/h3>\n<p>There\u2019s a darned good chance that Dai Sato is the writer behind your favorite anime series.\u00a0 His credits include <i>Cowboy Bebop<\/i>, <i>Samurai Champloo<\/i>, <i>Eden of the East<\/i>, and <i>Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex<\/i>, not to mention the awesomely trippy <i>Space Dandy<\/i>.\u00a0 In addition to the standard autograph session, he\u2019ll be doing a panel at 2:30 on Saturday.\u00a0 You\u2019ll be able to find me there by looking for the ridiculously excited guy with a press pass.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Spring simulcast announcements<\/h3>\n<p>Gosh, it seems like Anime Boston matches up conveniently with the end of the winter anime season.\u00a0 I wonder what Crunchyroll and Funimation will be announcing at their industry panels?\u00a0 If you want to hear about the new season\u2019s simulcasts, get ready to sprint from room to room on Saturday afternoon.\u00a0 Sadly, it looks like you\u2019ll have to make a tough choice between the <i>Attack on Titan<\/i> screening and the Crunchroll panel, as they\u2019re scheduled to happen at the same time.\u00a0 Maybe if you believe in yourself, you\u2019ll find a way to be in two places at once.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Your (empty) wallet<\/h3>\n<p>With every anime convention comes a big room full of dealers selling awesome merchandise.\u00a0 This big room brings with it an age-old question: pay full price on Friday, or wait for discounts on Sunday and risk the stuff you want going out of stock.\u00a0 All right, fine, so it\u2019s not really a dilemma.\u00a0 You and I both know you\u2019re going to burn through your war funds on Friday and come back on Sunday to spend even more.\u00a0 It\u2019ll be as if countless wallets cried out in agony, only to be drowned out by the rustling sound of posters being carefully crammed into backpacks.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Our coverage<\/h3>\n<p>SHAMELESS PLUG ALERT!\u00a0 As I hinted earlier, we\u2019ve been granted a press pass to Anime Boston this year.\u00a0 Get ready for some extended coverage, complete with industry analysis, crazy con stories, and perhaps a bit of buyer\u2019s remorse for all the money I\u2019m undoubtedly going to spend.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<address>Kawaii Overthink is written by Paul Jensen.
