As I\u2019ve shown through <a href=\"http:\/\/sharkpuppet.com\/13-video-game-tracks-for-your-halloween-playlist\/\">lists like these<\/a> before, video game music provides the perfect theme for any holiday or season, and the summertime is no exception. Lay down a beach blanket, inflate that volleyball that\u2019s been sitting in your basement since last October, and let these tracks enhance your beach going experience during these next few months:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>\u201cTropical Resort,\u201d from <em>Sonic Colors<\/em><\/h3>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube-nocookie.com\/embed\/xF2KhTYb9VA?rel=0\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s the first level of <em>Sonic Colors<\/em>, and its theme welcomes you into your summer vacation just like it welcomes you into the game. The theme of &#8220;Tropical Resort&#8221; is upbeat and fun, just like something you may hear playing poolside at a hotel in Orlando, just next to the Hawaiian-style buffet.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>\u201cWave Man,\u201d from <em>Mega Man V<\/em><\/h3>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube-nocookie.com\/embed\/fGdgE_2KGOM?rel=0\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>A slightly more relaxed track, Wave Man\u2019s stage music from <em>Mega Man V <\/em>is the perfect song for those times when you\u2019re lounging on the beach, waves rolling onto the shore as the sky glows a beautiful orange-yellow during the day\u2019s sunset. For an evil Robot Master, Wave Man sure knows how to take it slow, as they do in Kokomo.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>\u201cSplash Wave,\u201d from <em>OutRun<\/em><\/h3>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube-nocookie.com\/embed\/S7miBTOaa6M?rel=0\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Press play on this track, close your eyes for a moment, and imagine you\u2019re cruising along the coast of southern California in a bright red convertible. The breeze whips through your hair, and there are no clouds on this perfect day. You feel it, don\u2019t you? \u201cSplash Wave,\u201d as well as much of the rest of the <em>OutRun <\/em>soundtrack, can double as the theme songs of your summer beach party or road trip.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>\u201cKoopa Troopa Beach,\u201d from <em>Mario Kart 64<\/em><\/h3>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube-nocookie.com\/embed\/IuApZnHpu4A?rel=0\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Just lay back and let those steel drums take you to a secluded patch of sand on the South Pacific (hopefully not one riddled with banana peels and spiny shells). It was tough to pick one single track from the <em>Mario <\/em>franchise to represent summer fun (runner-ups include \u201cBeach Bowl Galaxy\u201d from <em>Super Mario Galaxy<\/em> and \u201cDelfino Plaza\u201d from <em>Mario Sunshine<\/em>), but in the end \u201cKoopa Troopa Beach\u201d takes the win, if anything then for the perfect instrument selection that makes you feel like you\u2019ve touched down in Jamaica.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>\u201cTreasure Trove Cove,\u201d from <em>Banjo-Kazooie<\/em><\/h3>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube-nocookie.com\/embed\/3nxFYoGNJKc?rel=0\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>A more fast-paced tune than \u201cKoopa Troopa Beach\u201d but still full of steel drums (as well as flutes and xylophones), \u201cTreasure Trove Cove\u201d is just the right kind of upbeat melody to play through your head while you make like Banjo, exploring a tropical paradise. Whether on a coastal town or exploring a reef, this song is just the right theme for the curious vacationer discovering an interesting, foreign tropical landscape.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>\u201cSandbox,\u201d from <em>Hot Wheels Stunt Track Driver<\/em><\/h3>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube-nocookie.com\/embed\/kjAKoG6N5fw?rel=0\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ll bet you never expected this classic from my childhood to appear here. But you know what, the music that plays in the Sandbox level of <em>Hot Wheels Stunt Track Driver<\/em> is the song that has defined summertime for me since I was six years old. That sweet, twang-y surf guitar and that awesome drumbeat are enough to scream \u201cfun in the sun.\u201d Fire up a poolside barbecue and crank this tune up, and you\u2019ve made your own picturesque scene straight out of a commercial for Old Navy Bermuda shorts.<\/p>\n<p>There you have it! Now crank up these tunes as you drive straight to the beach after your last day of school gets out.
